Romantic Remakes: You’ve Got Mail

Some movies merit at least one remake.  Which two of these films below inspired YOU’VE GOT MAIL (1998), starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan?

That would be SHOP AROUND THE CORNER … a romance started with anonymous pen-names with addresses being small postal boxes. I loved both this and YOU’VE GOT MAIL. In fact, have seen YGM probably 6 times at least now. Love Meg Ryan in it. She is so believable. — Wouldn’t it be great to see PRINCE IN THE TOWER made into a film. It has all the elements of suspense and romance without it having to be R-rated. — Gayle Haffner, author of HANDS With a HEART, Winning Biography 2012, International Book Awards —

Hi Gayle! Right!!! “In the Good Old Summertime” is the musical version of “The Shop Around the Corner.” Both inspired “You’ve Got Mail!” I would love to see “The Shop Around the Corner” and the musical. I don’t think I’ve seen either. I love “You’ve Got Mail.” An adorable film!

I totally agree with you the Classics are just that…timeless and well worth remakes if done as well as “You’ve Got Mail”. Thank you for the walk down memory lane it was also priceless.
